Philip H. Parks Memorial Scholarship

The award for the Philip H. Parks scholarship is $2000.

Scholarship Description

The Philip H. Parks Scholarship is created and established by Mrs. Philip H. Parks (Susan) and her son and daughter-in-law (Jerry and Deena Parks) to honor their husband and father/father-in-law.

Scholarship Intent

Philip H. Parks was a big supporter of the Everman Independent School District and the Everman community. He was a hard worker who valued loyalty and integrity. The Parks family is pleased to offer this scholarship in his memory.

The Philip H. Parks Scholarship is intended for students attending a post-secondary two-year or four-year college or university. The selection committee will choose a recipient and an alternate, in the event that the recipient is unable to enroll for the fall semester.

Scholarship Eligibility

Recipients of the Philip H. Parks Scholarship must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be a graduating senior of the Joe C. Bean High School or The Everman Academy High School

  2. Have at least 85 GPA on his/her transcript

  3. Maintain a consistent personal set of values with no ethical or conduct issues

Other Aspects Regarding the Scholarship

  1. Diversity will be honored in the selection of recipients.

  2. Donors will participate in the selection process.

  3. Financial need will not be considered in the selection process

Provisions for Application

A student applying for the Philip H. Parks Memorial Scholarship shall provide the following materials:

  1. Letter of application

  2. High school transcript (WITH SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER BLACKED OUT)

  3. Three letters of recommendation or reference (for example: church, work, or school)

  4. Student essay on the topic: HOW WILL YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE WITH HONOR AND INTEGRITY IN A SOCIETY THAT IS OFTEN MARKED BY SELFISHNESS, DECEIT, AND DISHONESTY?

  5. Applications will be submitted no later than May 3.

Scholarship Selection

A scholarship committee comprising representatives from EISD Administration, Joe C. Bean Administration and Faculty, Everman Academy High School Administration and Faculty, and the Parks family shall review all applications and make a final selection and alternate for the award. The decision of the selection committee is final and not subject to appeal. Announcement of the scholarship recipient will be made at the annual Senior Awards Program.

Scholarship Payment

The award for the Philip H. Parks scholarship is $2000. A payment of $1000 will be made at the beginning of the Fall semester. A second payment of $1000 will be made at the beginning of the Spring semester. All payments will be made from the Everman Foundation to the college or university upon evidence of enrollment as a full-time student.
